Roger Miller, my co-elder at Pioneer Christian Fellowship, a church I founded and pastored 40+ years ago, spoke the above sentence to me when I was expressing to him how pessimistic I was about things.

He calmly said, “Leadership is automatically transferred to those who remain optimistic.” The statement pierced my heart as a prophetic word, as the Lord made me realize I could never be an effective pastor of a church or a leader in society unless I changed from pessimism to optimism! I repented on the spot and decided to change.  That statement is now a beautifully framed graphic that sits on the desk in my office.

Pessimism vs. optimism came up again today.

Today I heard a person ask, “Can you name me one thing created by a pessimistic person? That comment was on today’s video release, Trump Throws Britain Out of Iran — Then Takes the Fed. Yes, the video, put out by Promethean Action, is 2 hours long, which is why Patti and I save this website for weekend viewing which we do during (and after) a mealtime. We learn so much from these two hours. We decided these folks offer us insight far beyond anything we have been taught, understood, or read in news reports today. They are expanding our worldview and making us excited about what is taking place as God restores His world.

The other thing that is a part of our daily morning motivation is Coffee & Covid, which puts an optimistic spin on American events from the last 24 hours. I hunger for optimism, and I fight to maintain it.

Of course, as I journal every morning, God assures me that He is in control, He loves me, and I am to tune to flow with my eyes on him and He will guide me throughout the day.

So three sources of optimism, all in addition to the overwhelming number of Scriptural statements such as: “in everything give thanks, rejoice evermore, the Most high rules in the affairs of men, I am God Almighty, I work all things out for good, etc.

Are you living as an optimist?

Do you feed your soul optimism every day? Do you believe, picture, and speak the Bible’s many promises of God’s love and control over you, and over His creation?

Avoiding accusation, slander, man-made divisions, and labeling.

Satan began his walk amongst mankind with a statement creating fear, doubt, and division in his talk with Eve in the garden. I choose to have no such discussions in my mind. I bind and cast down the accuser of the brethren. I reject labels over people, other than “are you one who has received God’s love for the truth? (2 Thess. 2;10; 1 Pet. 1:22). For those of us who will say yes, then creativity, optimism, transformation, and change are our constants.

We are the people who are known by our unity, our creativity, and the blessing and anointing that rests upon us. Lord, make me that today, I pray in Jesus’ name. Let me stand apart from those who walk in darkness. Let me be the light that enlightens people and nations. I choose to glorify You!

Journaling Application - My Emmaus Road Experience (Lk. 24:13-35)

Hearing God's voice is as simple as: 1) quieting down (Ps. 62:1-5), 2) beholding Jesus at my right hand (Ps. 16:8; Acts 2:25), 3) asking for His revelation and tuning to spontaneous thoughts and spontaneous pictures (Jn. 7:37-39; Jer. 2:13; 10 pictures), and 4) recording what flows (Hab. 2:1,2; Rev. 1:9-11). I then test it, ensuring it lines up with Scripture (Ps. 1:2; Jn. 10:35; 1 Thess. 5:2) and is affirmed in the hearts of my three spiritual advisors (2 Cor. 13:1; Prov. 11:14). See this link.

  • Lord, is there any negativism, accusation, or division that You desire to see removed from my heart and mind?
  • Lord, I come into agreement with Your counsel to me so that I may walk as a child of the light (I Jn. 1:7).

If we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 Jn. 1:7-9)
